Park Heights Ave. / Design for Distancing
A city initiative called Design for Distancing --- Developed in the summer of 2020 in response to COVID-19 and the challenges faced by local businesses, the Design for Distancing program called on Baltimore’s world class design and public health communities to develop innovative approaches to safe, physically distant gathering.
This past July, Pimlico / Park Heights was identified as one of 12 main streets to receive funds. A design build team including local artist, Whitney Frazier, and Ruppert Landscape worked in collaboration with Pimlico Merchants Association (President, Sister Yeshiyah Israel) to create vibrant mural designs, signage and planters to be installed outside businesses on Park Height Ave. The goal of these projects is to encourage patrons to continue supporting local businesses in the safest way possible!

With offices in the Station North area of Baltimore and in Hyattsville, Maryland, NDC’s assistance strengthens civic participation in development initiatives, educates the public about the value of good design, planning and preservation as community revitalization tools, and increases investment in the responsive rebuilding of neighborhoods.
